About Us
The Gilford Youth Center’s (GYC) mission is to provide a safe, affordable, and inclusive facility (environment) for Gilford and the Lakes Region which offers educational, athletic, and community opportunities for youth, adults and families to improve the quality of life.
Since opening its doors in 2009, the GYC has welcomed thousands of people through its doors. Along with providing beneficial programs for both children and adults, the GYC is committed to building strong relationships with other local organizations, including the Gilford Parks and Recreation, Gilford School District, Laconia Head Start, Genesis Behavioral Services, and the Lakes Region Community Services. The GYC is currently the home of many community events, including the Saint Baldrick's "Shave for a Cure", GHS Prom, the Miss Lakes Region Pageant, and the venue for all Gilford town voting. Scott Hodsdon- Executive Director
Scott Hodsdon has been the Director of the Gilford Youth Center since 2009. He is in charge of programming, scheduling, and day-to-day operations of the center. Before being full time at the GYC in 2023, Scott was the Youth Director at the Gilford Community Church, where he led the Sunday School program, and organized youth and family events for its members. Scott was born and raised in Somersworth, NH. After graduating from Somersworth High School, Scott attended Saint Anselm College and Plymouth State College, majoring in physical education. He played four years of college baseball, receiving the Paul Arold Award, given to the Most Outstanding Male Athlete at PSC. Following his playing days, Scott was an assistant coach for four years with the Plymouth State College baseball team and two years with the Plymouth State Women's Basketball team. in 2019, Scott founded Lakes Region Elite Basketball, and currently operates as its president.
Scott lives in Gilford with his wife Kate, daughter Addison and son Drew.
