Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements. I like to think of it as an hour of FUN!
My name is Diane “Dee” Vlatas and I have been teaching Zumba for over a year. Like many, I struggled with my weight since I was young. In 2002 I decided to stop “dieting” and started on a path to eating healthier and becoming more active. It took five years but I lost about 50lbs. This has been the first time in my life I've been able to keep it off. I credit Zumba for helping me achieve that. I have always loved dancing so when I discovered Zumba I knew I had found a fitness program I could stick with. I hope to bring my knowledge and passion for Zumba to others so they may maintain or achieve goals like I have. If nothing else, its an hour of stress-free fun! Anyone can do Zumba! The students I've been teaching range between 20-something to their 70's, including men. I emphasize “a no-judgment” class. Many of my routines start with basic moves and I will add elements and enhancements as the song progresses. Any move can be modified and if there is something you find difficult or just can't do (health issues, joint problems, etc...), then just repeat the basics or do anything you want, as long as you keep moving its all good. “There are no wrong moves, just fabulous solo's!” Give it a chance and COME JOIN THE PARTY!
